The online magazine RfotoFolio requested an interview with me. You can read it at this address: https://rfotofolio.org/2019/01/08/kimberly-chiaris-gallery/
I will be teaching 3 workshops on the Cyanotype process SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2018, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM through the Center for Fine Art Photography. There’s a beginner, intermediate and advanced. The beginner one is for anyone including children who come with an adult. No prior knowledge of this process or of photography is needed. The intermediate workshop can be taken immediately after the beginner workshop and will delve into more complicated techniques. In advanced workshop, we will be incorporating bookmaking into the process. Go to the link on the www.c4fap website to see more details.

1st Place in L.A. Photo Curator "The Tangible Photo"
Thanks and more thanks go to Laurie Freitag and L.A. Photo Curator for creating this and many other fine exhibitions. Thanks to Blue Mitchellthe curator (Publisher of One Twelve Publishing and Diffusion Magazine) for choosing my scroll book "Remember Who You Are" for the 1st place award!
I have the highest regard for Blue and Laurie who champion photographic artists and their work from around the Globe. They are the cream of the crop in my opinion. What an honor to be chosen. This show "The Tangible Photo" will be posted on line February 15 at http://laphotocurator.com .
And don't forget to check out http://onetwelvepublishing.com , http://platestopixels.com/blog/ and http://diffusion.bigcartel.com which are Blue's blog, magazine, and gallery sites. The really cool part about winning is that I get to choose a nonprofit to receive 10% of the proceeds from the entrants fees as well as the curator chooses a nonprofit to receive 10%. I chose The Center for Fine Art Photographybecause they do so much for photographic arts and they are a part of my own community.
Congratulations to all the other artists in this show too!

NOTE FROM BLUE MITCHELL:
"One of the reasons I chose the Tangible Photograph as a theme was I knew that I would get the opportunity see work that is really pushing photography forward by showcasing the strengths of the medium and combining that with craft sensibilities. We succeeded in collecting work that was literally tangible and tactile--photo objects. As with most competitions, the work is hard to judge against each other by merit--it is subjective. My choices were purely made from what drew me in, made me wonder, and ask questions (other than “why?”).
I have been working a Spotify playlist I like to listen to when creating art. For months I have been adding and subtracting specific songs to help with the flow of this soundtrack. It’s important that I can listen to the playlist in order and cover a broad spectrum of sounds yet each song should dip in and out of the next with little jarring. Curating small selections like this are like choosing songs for playlists, it ebbs and flows through the timeline but they all make sense in the playlist. Today my Tangible Playlist looks like this:
1st place:
Kimberly Chiaris “Remember Who You Are”
2nd place:
Angela Casagrande “I noticed People disappeared”
Honorable mentions:
Peg Shaw “90 Years 1”
Charlotta Hauksdottir “Topography Study VI”
Diane Fenster “House”
LM Wood “Colorful Crevice”
Mary Dondero “Civil Twilight”
20% of artist fees go to charity. 10% to the curator's charity and 10% to the first place winner's charity.
Mitchell has chosen Caldera Arts as his charity.
